Jeff Shelstad has been living in the Education arena for 25+ years now. He is well versed in the key education technology issues of the day, consistently leading innovation at the intersection of content, curriculum, and technology.
Jeff was most recently Vice President and General Manager of Capella University where he managed four (4) of Capella’s schools (Schools of Education, Business, Technology, and Public Service Leadership) and served over 15,000 learners. Prior to joining Capella, Jeff was Founder and CEO of Flat World Knowledge, a venture-backed startup that established a very strong brand and delivered a new content model for higher education. At Flat World Knowledge, Jeff led the enterprise raising $30M in private money from five (5) venture capital firms and 25 angel investors. The company grew to over 40 employees and almost $6M in annual revenue under Jeff’s leadership.
Previously, Jeff held executive positions at both Pearson Education and McGraw Hill Education focusing on product and technology innovations and go-to-market success. He is a native of Minnesota. Jeff holds a Business degree from the Carlson School of Management (University of Minnesota) and an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.
