The Minnesota Executive Function Scale (MEFSTM) provides a way for teachers and school administrators to quickly and easily measure a student’s (or incoming student’s) executive function  skills. These are the brain-based skills needed to pay attention, hold information in mind, control impulses, and flexibly adapt to change. Distinct from IQ, executive function can be taught and learned, and can help level the playing field for disadvantaged children. These skills are vital for success in today’s academic environment and are proven to be better predictors of academic and life success than IQ.

Developed by leading scientists in the field of executive function development research, the MEFSTM is a valid and reliable, brief (less than 5 minutes) tablet assessment of executive function you can use to compare student performance to national and local norms. Teachers can use the MEFSTM to identify children in need of additional assessment, to place children in the most optimal classrooms, to track the development of EF, and to evaluate the effects of interventions and curricula.
